muscle and success
as you probably guessed by my pix in my profile, i'm
a dedicated gym goer. And yes, girls do enjoy the well toned
abs and buldging bicepts. I was competive (bodybuilder)
for years and posed at national level events. Of course
at that level the physiques are disgustingly huge, and
completely unhealthy requiring abusive levels of steriods
and hormones. let me point out a couple of lessons i've
learned from all of it, as there is a fine line between being
in shape, being in excellent shape and dismorphia...
First, to all the guys: girls for the most part like muscular,
not muscle bound! they could care less about how much you
can bench or curl, (so don't try to impress your date
with stories of you last squat session..its akin to them
detailing a trip to the MAC counter in the womens department
and finding a great new shade of foundation.) the only people
who care about who much you can lift or huge muscles are OTHER
GUYS! (and not to cast any offensive remarks, but often
its gay guys that realy LIKE big big muscles...if that's
your orentation by all means, get big)
now ALL woman love abs. period. don't bother with sit
ups or squats 'cuz abs only are revealed when you get
rid of the fat covering them. cardio and diet will sharpen
your wash board, plain and simple. (and rule of thumb if
you're trying to bring em out...make sure you're
burning 1000 calories per session -i know its tuff but unless
you're blessed with an expceptional metabolism,
it's gonna take REAL work to do this. As for actual muscle...every
woman likes a degree of muscle. i've been 170lbs all
the way up to 225lbs cut. for my height (5'8")
i found 186-195 sharp has gotten the most attention and
still allows me to wear stylish clothing. (try wearing
abecrombie&fitch jeans with 32" thighs! or
a suit jacket with a 52" chest...trust me looks laughable)And
woman have favorite body parts just like us guys. chest
and arms seem to grab their attention the most. but focus
on t-shirt muscles can make ya look dispropotional...kinda
like 15" wheel on a 3/4ton pickup truck. so keep it
all proportional...like the youre calves should measure
within an inch of your bicepts, same for chest measuremnt
shouldn't esceed both (your) thighs together. whatever
you do, the most important thing is being chiseled. advoid
looking like a topigraphical map with thick wormy veins
popping out every where, but clear visble muscle structure
is very appealing.
Ok. onto the work place. believe it or not bosses look at
physiques. yes us guys get prejudged just like woman.personal
experince from employers, or busness partners who have
been expressive of my developed muscles: there is a presumtion
(fair or not) of my character that i MUST be a hard worker,
with dedication, discipline and commitment to have acheived
(physicaly) what i have, which will translate into drive,
desire etc. in the work environment. additionaly, i've
put on the tight slacks, fitted shirts when handed the task
of and pitching business plans when seeking venture capital
or marketing/promotional ideas. guys how many times have
you bought something from a pretty, female with a revealing
blouse or skirt that you never would of considered if offered
by lets say someone looking like roseanne barr? that dynamic
isn't limited to just the females.
now before i hear it...i know, i know i know -we should all
be valued for whats on the inside not superfical appearences,
and promotions/hrings should be based on experince and
merit not who looks best in a suit...but things work a little
differntly now don't they?
it always takes more than physical appearences to sustain
a job or relationship, but there's a reason why some
get to go directly to the front of the line if you know what
i mean.
