Health + Fitness = PERFORMANCE!!

Just to share some thoughts on this. I would guess that everyone
will have had a different experience. Afterall, everyone
is different.

Ever since I hit over 30 years of age, I began to notice myself
slowing down. The changes were so subtle, I did not even
realise what they were! The first and most noticeable was
the "advent of the bulge". Yep, that little
ring of spare stuff around the waist. Pant sizes went from
29" to 30" to 31" to 32"... by the
time I was 33 yrs of age, it hit 35". This was totally
un-imaginable!! Always slim, always atheletic, I could
eat all I want and never see it, ever! My metabolism was clearly
down. But more importantly, my activity was down too. I
used to spend the entire weekend outdoors with friends.
Playing ball, swimming, hiking, picnics, whatever. It
was non stop from Saturday morning to Sunday evening.

Well, not anymore. Then, the other surprise was my fitness
test. Every year, I went for a phyiscal fitness test which
measured our physical fitness. Chin ups, broad jump, sit
up and a 2.4km run. Sounds familiar? Yo mus' be in me
same country! :D

I failed. For the first time in 20 years, I failed when i was
31 yrs old. It was a shock.

As I stuggled to come to terms with my "new" phyiscal
limits, I slowly began to comfort myself and rationalise
it all. Everyone grows older. Means nothing. I was still
a tiger in bed! THAT was what matters. Right? Gals prefer
mature men! WE knew how to use it. Yeah, right.

That was fine until one night, I failed to "perform".
Nothing. Zilch. Dead as a dead duck. Floppy as a... ok, you
get the picture. It was the end of the road for me. Life could
end now for all I care. No more whoopie!?

I was getting depressed, then a little desperate. Fortunately,
a few nights later, I "did" it. That made me realise
that I was NOT dead, yet. It also made me realise that something
was not right. I was feeling lousy.

Then, I started to exercise. I started running again. Slept
a little earlier, eased off on the late nights. Ate a little
better. More fruits. More veggy (yucks!). Milk.

After a month, I actually felt good. This little incident
made me panic, but it has also taught me not to take my health
and fitness for granted. All things may come and go. But
the day I cannot rely on good ole RAMROD... its the end of
the world.
